After a scoreless half in this massive rivalry between USA and Germany both teams brought the intensity up in the second half as Germany was able to defy the odds and finish the game with a victory. Germany was able to secure a goal early in the second half when USA keeper Casey Murphy was charged with an own-goal in the 52nd minute while Paulina Krumbiegel was able to clinch a final goal in the 89th. USA fought a tough battle with a goal from Megan Rapinoe in the 85th but it wasn't enough to get the win against Germany.
