Trainer Karl Burke said pre-race that his Mehmas filly Zelaina was "very quick" and the exciting juvenile more than proved the point on debut, zooming out of the widest stall of all and making all for a brilliant debut success that made her favourite for the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot in just two weeks' time.
This Nottingham novice race is one Burke likes and one that has Royal Ascot pedigree, withg last year's winner Leovanni following up at the Royal Meeting while the trainer also sent out the classy Beautiful Diamond to win this in recent years.
It looks like Zelaina could potentially be the best of them after recording an eye-watering split of 2.16s for her initial 0-20mph, while she was cantering on the bridle at 41mph approaching the final furlong - despite the fact that she missed out on some work in her preparation for this debut and Burke adamant that there is more to come.
