Opera Ballo, a €600,000 colt by Ghaiyyath, makes a sparkling debut for trainer Charlie Appleby and jockey Billy Loughnane in the Godolphin silks at Kempton Park - and looks set for a much higher level.
Opera Ballo really opened up inside the final two furlongs and won by 10 lengths at the line, while the three-year-old also recorded eye-catching late splits on his first racecourse start and hit 42mph in the closing stages.
Top trainer Appleby has a liking for this Kempton Park maiden in particular - he sent out Notable Speech to a debut victory in this contest last year and that colt won the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket a matter of months later, while other above-average types to land this from Moulton Paddocks in recent years include Measured Time and Highland Avenue.
Opera Ballo looks one to note - and jockey Loughnane couldn't help a smile in the post-race interview!
