There was a remarkable late twist to the mile race for two-year-olds on the third day of the Killarney Festival when hot favourite Green Triangle threw away victory in the final strides. The juvenile, trained by Joseph O’Brien, was sent off at 11/10 to follow up a win at Roscommon last time out and was several lengths clear, with victory in the bag, when he had other ideas. "Astonishing" said commentator Jerry Hannon. Both horse and rider were fine. His antics opened the door for Lambourn, a newcomer trained by Joseph’s father, Aidan, to score at 6/1 under Wayne Lordan. O’Brien Sr has trained thousands of winners, but none can have been so fortunate as this one. #horseracing #horse #horses
