Letโs get into it!
1:45 Aintree โ Manifesto Novices' Chase
Selection: Croke-Park (1pt Win @ 4/1)
This is a deep race, but Croke-Park is the standout for us. Gordon Elliottโs yard didnโt quite fire at Cheltenham, with his runners looking a bit flat. However, just days after the festival, his horses hit a purple patch, landing a strong mix of winners and placed runnersโ13 in two weeks! His strike rate has dipped slightly in the last 10 days, but that could be down to holding back firepower for Aintree.
Croke-Park is a top-class prospect. His last run saw him keeping pace with Ballyburn, which was eye-catching. Expect him to go forward today and dictate the race. Heโs got serious talent, but tread carefullyโthere are mitigating circumstances. Still, at 4/1, weโre taking a small 1pt win bet.
1:45 Aintree โ Juvenile Hurdle
Selection: Puturhandstogether (1pt Win @ 6/4)
We put up Slurricane at 33/1 for the Fred Winter, narrowing the field to two, and Puturhandstogether was the other horse. Slurricane placed at 5/1, while Puturhandstogether went on to bolt up. This horse looked destined for black-type success on the Flat, having beaten Siege of Troyโwho later ran third in a graded race at Kentucky Downs.
His Cheltenham Festival win came with plenty up his sleeve, and he was 11/4 last night, but heavy money has seen him smashed into 6/4. The value is gone, so itโs only a small bet, but he should prove a cut above the rest on form and implied ability.
16:05 Aintree โ Foxhunters' Hunters' Chase
Selection: Presentandcounting (1pt Each Way @ 28/1, 5 Places)
We land on Presentandcounting, a front-runner who jumps beautifully. Rated 147 back in 2021, heโs won six times over hurdles and fences, albeit at a lower level. He loves fast ground and stays three miles strongly, making him a cracking each-way play at 28/1.
Donald McCainโs yard has strong National pedigree. The Foxhunters' is run over National fences, which suits his style and experience. Jockey Derek OโConnor actually bought this horse for McCainโs yard for over 100k. The market has overlooked him, and at 28/1, weโre happy to take a 1pt each-way play.
4.40 Aintree โ Close Brothers Red Rum Chase
Selection: Calico (1pt Each Way @ 4/1, 4 Places)
Calico is a horse weโve tracked for some time. Heโs run second in Grade 2 hurdles, then switched to chasing, where he ran second to Jonbon in a Grade 2. This is a speed horse with plenty left in the tank.
He beat Matata at Cheltenham in October, a horse now rated 163. This race has been his target for months. Conditions should suit, and we believe heโs got a huge chance. At 4/1, heโs our 1pt each-way play with most firms paying 4 places.
17:15 Aintree โ Goffs Nickel Coin Mares' NH Flat Race
Selection: Charisma-Cat (1pt Each Way @ 5/1)
Charisma-Cat is a listed winner who thrives on a long straight, exactly what Aintree offers. Sheโs tasted defeat only once in four starts, and that was in a listed race where she was stuck behind horses and couldnโt get out in time. By the time she did, the winner had stolen a march.
This long straight suits her powerful finish, and at 5/1, sheโs our 1pt each-way play.
