There’s been a cautiously hopeful update on Broadway Boy after a terrifying fall during the 2025 Grand National at Aintree Out of 34 starters, only 16 horses managed to finish the race a race that continues to spark debate around horse safety The remaining 18 either fell, were pulled up, or unseated their jockeys
The most alarming incidents involved Broadway Boy and Celebre d’Allen Both horses were immediately attended to by vets on the track. Broadway Boy, trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies, suffered a particularly nasty fall at the 25th fence, Valentine’s Brook He was leading the pack when he crashed forward, landing hard on his head and neck a truly distressing moment
Roughly an hour after the race concluded, officials provided an update. Broadway Boy had received on-course treatment, was carefully examined, and thankfully was able to walk into a horse ambulance before being taken back to the stables for more tests
His jockey, Tom Bellamy, was also affected He was thrown off and landed on his knees. Later reports confirmed he was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical check
