The John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase is often an early-season highlight to note but this year's edition looked vintage on paper - and it certainly didn't disappoint.
Two-time Gold Cup winner Galopin Des Champs set a good pace out in front over this intermediate trip and title-holder Fastorslow was in his slipstream on the turn for home as both top-class chasers looked set for another memorable clash, but it was pair of novices from last seasons and real up-and-comers in the staying division this term - Fact To File and Spillane's Tower - who ultimately fought it out in a fantastic tussle to the line.
The Cheltenham Festival winner Fact To File prevailed under Mark Walsh for owner JP McManus, and the owner had the first two home as Spillane's Tower ran a fine race for Jimmy Mangan on his first run outside of novice company.
