€160,000 buy Mirazur West is a brother to the top-class Ferny Hollow and the new recruit made all the running under Derek O'Connor to make a winning rules debut and justify strong market support in the final race of the jumps season at Naas for trainer Willie Mullins and owner JP McManus.
Mirazur West had a big reputation going into the race and he certainly delivered, travelling through the contest in real style and coasting home from some interesting types to mark himself out as a real name to note.
Assistant trainer David Casey said after the race: “He’s a lovely horse and had been working well at home. He seems a little bit more tractable than his brother (Ferny Hollow) was in his early days.
“He’s a beautiful stamp of a horse and showed there the work he’d been doing at home. Derek was delighted with him and said he was idle in front.”
Keep an eye out for im, particularly in novice hurdles next season. He could well take very high rank!
